When The Bell Tolls
As this year draws to a close (yes, I know there’s another three weeks yet, but this is what came to mind when I was thinking of ideas for a blog post), I find myself in two minds.
This is not an unusual thing for me. In this case, what I’m conflicted about is whether or not I can (or should) finish my first draft of A House Divided by the end of the year.
On the one hand, well, the appeal should be obvious. Wrap up the year, wrap up the book; start fresh in the new year. It has a pleasing symmetry to it for me.
On the other hand, as I’ve said before, I want to tell the best story I can and if that means that I have to spend longer on it than I originally intend then that’s what I should do.
Now I suppose the two don’t have to be mutually exclusive but the pessimist in me, well I expect you can work out the rest…
