I’m not usually the sort to post about celebrities (I really don’t like that word, BTW). I have mentioned some of the authors I read or some actors that have inspired me in some way but it’s usually been in the context of my writing. The one time when I did not tie it into what I was working on was regarding the death of Sir Terry Pratchett, an author I read and admired for the majority of my life. Having said that, this post is about two men that have also passed away recently.

This past week has seen the deaths of both David Bowie and Alan Rickman. Both deaths seem to have been unexpected by the public at large, and both of them were gone too soon.

The news of both deaths also made me swear. I never met either man, can’t claim any real connection with them other than the simple fact that I enjoyed their work. I will continue to enjoy their work, even if I wish we could have had more of it. And I’m sure there are many of you out there who will agree with me on both those points.
