Making Connections

First off, a big hello, welcome and thank you kindly to you new readers.

And an especially big thank you to Raimey Gallant. Thanks partly to her, not only did I try my hand at NaNoWriMo last month but the number of people following (and hopefully, reading) my blog has close to doubled in the past week.

The reason for that has been Raimey’s NaNo Blog & Social Media Hop. The idea behind it is simple, you work your way through the list of the other people who going the Hop; following Twitter feeds, liking Facebook pages etc. I’ve lost count of the number of notifications I’ve got on here and my other accounts thanks to this and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

I’ve always said that one of the things I like most about social media, based on my experiences so far, has been the way people can be so supportive of each other. Especially writers. And this is an extension of that. By following, liking etc;  you’re potentially drawing someone to others attentions. And how knows where that may lead.

Unfortunately I’m not always the best at talking to people and keeping in touch but that’s something I’m working on. I have talked (or traded messages) with some of the people who’ve found me thanks to this, but I’m glad I did. I’ve already found a couple of blog posts from people I found (or found me) through the Hop which I think will help me. And who knows, maybe something of mine will be useful to someone out there. I think I’d  like that.

So once again thanks to Raimey and all of you who have reached out in the past few days. I hope we’ll all benefit from this. And, whether you made your NaNoWriMo goal or not, my congratulations and well done.

  1. Yes, this hopping has been a blast. It can make your head dizzy, but connecting, joining forces and getting to know new people is fantastic. It’s like unwrapping Christmas presents for a prolonged time 🙂

  2. Hello! I’m also enjoying the NaNo Hop, though it’s easy to get overwhelmed by it all. My goal is to spend some quality time with the blogs and social media, learn what other writers are doing on these platforms, and make some good connections with sympatico writers and artists. Happy Holidays!
