Author Interviews

In my goals for February, I said I wanted to make a decision about whether or not I was going to do interviews. And, for better or worse, I think I’ve made one.

I’ve been kicking the idea back and forth for a few months now. I have to suppose that if I haven’t been able to dismiss the idea after that amount of time, then it means that I’m finding enough merit in it to want to do it. And that the only thing holding me back from doing so is my own nervousness. So I’m going put out a request to see if anyone wants to try being a guinea pig for an interview to be posted in March.

I’m still thinking about the details and exactly how best to conduct the interview. When I did my mock interview with myself, it was in a kind of conversational style. That’s just what seemed right and what seemed to work for me. Thanks to that, I don’t think I could do a form interview or just use a set of stock questions.Having said that, I’d probably still use some set questions, probably as a way of rounding out the interview, like I did in my own.

Assuming that I can find a way to make it work, and assuming I do get some people brave enough to have me question them, then it becomes a matter of how often do I do an interview? I’m thinking that finding a victim, I mean interviewee, getting it all set up and then written up; when you factor all that in, then one a month seems like the best compromise. Maybe if I’m lucky enough to get people interested (both in being interviewed and in reading the results) then I can step it up and do more but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how it goes.
