I met my best friend when I went to university over twenty years ago and despite all the time in between we still talk fairly regularly. We only get together maybe every couple of years or so since he still lives in Scotland.
Until now I hadn’t Googled myself. Top results were: My full name – LinkedIn profiles with the same name. My writer name – A White Pages listing. My blog site – The Amazon page for The Scribblings of a Madcap Shambleton by Noel Fielding.
Even looking up the flavors, I still don’t have a scooby… half&half maybe?
Depends on who the session went. If it was a struggle, then I’ll feel exhausted. If it goes smoothly, there’s a chance I’ll feel upbeat.
Too many to count and I keep adding new ones every day. Thanks to all of you.
Hmm, I’m not sure De Vries idolises anyone. He has shown as much respect as antagonism towards Ash’s father Matthias so that’s probably the closest he gets.
No flag but I do have this… (see image below)
I haven’t tallied up it lately so, not a scooby. But certainly less than I’d like.
De Vries has a great deal of resentment towards his father. He feels like he was abandoned by the man.
Well, I find it motivating anyways. (see image below)
Well, in the past Ash has been known to go on picnics with his family. Now that he’s been effectively cast out, the only one he might go on a picnic with is Mitsuko. Well, he did also spend some time traipsing through a forest with Anja, does that count?
“Please try again later.”
Well, that could be a boost for De Vries. For one, he wouldn’t be limited by daylight and he could probably make use of an army of the dead…
I had a wee glass of whisky after dinner. Does that count?
Ash isn’t planning any beach time, this or any summer. Not really his scene.
Ash isn’t the swimsuit type.
Erm…. My (sometimes surprising) retention of random trivia. Erm…. Ehh… Can I get back to you when I think of a second one?
Since Ceteri body temperature is often higher than human average, Ash finds cold a little easier than heat.
As many or as few as he needs to, I suppose.
Unless friendly insults counts, probably not.
I don’t know that I have a specific summer read.
Just keep trying.
No-one can teach to you how to write, they can only teach how they write.
Ash is pale (like all Ceteri) with light brown hair and hazel eyes. His face is narrow enough that he sometimes feels that he looks like a rodent. And, since the end of book 2, he has large scars forming a V across his left cheek.
Since the main series is written in 1st person, Ash is really the only one with an inner monologue.
I suppose that as things have progressed it’s become more about how far Ash will go to achieve his goals and how that will change him.
Ash’s favourite books – Fiction: Frankenstein Non-Fiction: The Hagakure .
The best gift Elizabeth got was being given the choice to walk away from the Ceteri side of her family and make a life solely for herself.
De Vries first word is “Such”.
I suppose Ash is the one most unsure of the future. The majority of the supporting cast are fully trained Watchman and have a degree of fatalism about their future.
Ash would be described as a night owl. Due to his Ceteri allergy to sunlight, he usually sleeps through the day and is active at night.
None of my characters like pain (well, Carina likes inflicting it but that’s another matter) but the majority of my main cast has had the training to work through it. I suppose I would have to say Mbejane. Since he’s a doctor, he wants to alleviate pain.
I don’t think any of my characters wishes they were dead. Maybe Ash’s father, Matthias. He’d rather be dead than a hostage to ensure Ash’s complicity.
Most sentimental? Elizabeth, maybe. I’m not sure.
He was slender to the point of being gaunt, something most apparent in his face, angular cheekbones prominent beneath deep-set eyes. Yet there was a lean hardness to his frame; as if the skin could only contain the muscle & bone, no room for the flesh.
Elizabeth relaxes by having a long, hot bath and reading a book.
There have been more than a few developments that I never had in mind when I first started. Unfortunately, I can’t be more specific than that without spoilers.
De Vries prefers the indoors, he’s not one for roughing it.
At first, I thought it would be either Elizabeth or Mbejane due to their respective professions. But I’m told it’s actually Quinn, purely due to the number of roles he’s had to play throughout the years and having to keep his current cover story straight.
Since De Vries is also Ceteri, he’s up and about during the night & resting by day.
Well, I’m pretty sure they all have something in their pasts that they’d like to forget. But if I had to pick someone, I’d probably say MacReady since he still has occasional nightmares about Vietnam.
De Vries’ favourite book is The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas.
Definitely Anja. She’s pretty much a spy at the best of times.
If Ash went to therapy, I expect he’d probably be talking about some of the guilt he feels over certain things, even though none were really his fault.
Anja is the one who would be most likely to walk away. She’s reinvented herself before, no reason she couldn’t do so again.
I suspect Ash would try to prevent the deaths of his mother and aunt in a car accident.
There a number of people looking for Ash; De Vries, Lord Von Radu, Lord Takeda. Anja’s tracking him too, although more to offer assistance than to capture him.
Casey is probably the best with directions.
Quinn is the worst since he usually figures he knows were he’s going anyway, despite any evidence to the contrary.
Ash tries to, especially after what his great-aunt told him about them.
De Vries doesn’t keep much in his pockets but I’m sure he always has a knife on his somewhere.
Elizabeth is the closest to the ‘real world’.
I don’t know that he’s actually a pyromaniac, but Quinn had caused plenty of explosions.
