When I opened up the webpage to begin writing this post, I was more than a little dismayed to discover it’s been more than four months since my last post. I knew it had been a while but I didn’t realise quite how long.

Since one of my goals for the new year is to not dwell on the negative or waste time on self-recrimination, that’s all I’m going to say about that. I may talk about the events of the last couple of months at another time but, for now, let’s just accept that it is what it is and do as the title says.

So, let’s talk about what I want to accomplish in this coming year. There will be a degree of overlap in some areas but honestly, I’m still working out some of it myself so perhaps putting things down will help me there.

Rebuilding an Online Presence

There are three parts to this one; this blog obviously, reviews at Booknest, and my social media accounts.

The reviews I’ll talk about more below and this is a step towards getting the blog going again so that just leaves the social media. I tended to use Twitter more than anything else so I should get back to that and be posting there again, whether it be in response to daily hashtag games, word prompts, or just the people that are good enough to follow me.

Reading and Reviewing

First of all, I feel like I need to re-organise my TBR list. What this has consisted of so far, has been to delete everything except the books I have to read for #SPFBO from my Goodreads page. I’ll rebuild it gradually, ideally in a more manageable and purposeful manner.

Then I need to get back to making time for reading; at least half an hour a day for ebooks and audiobooks whenever I can.

I have a backlog of books to review once I’m done with my #SPFBO assignments plus a number already threatening to make their way onto the revised TBR list. This means, I shouldn’t be short of potential reviews to post, I just have to buckle down and actually get them written.

Writing

And now the hard part.

Aside from writing those reviews and new posts to go up on here, I also need to get back to writing fiction, although I’m currently not sure what kind of fiction it will be. Ideally, I would like to continue the House Valerius series (I think I might go into this into a separate post), but with the way things have been if it’s a choice between an idea that doesn’t fit or waiting until something Ceteri related does come to me, I’ll take the random idea and dow what I can with it in that moment. And, hopefully, that will get the ball rolling again.

Well, there we are for the moment. I’m sure I’ve probably missed things I should have said but these posts tend to be first draft and one of the things I’m trying to teach myself is not to worry about first drafts being perfect.
