In the wake of the attack and destruction of their ancestral home, Ash and the other surviving members of House Valerius must struggle to survive. Not only do their attackers pursue them but the very attacks themselves threaten to draw attention of the regular human world to the Ceteri.

Even if they do survive, the ramifications of the attack are having wide-spread effects. The balance of power among the Ceteri ruling Cabal has been disrupted and the leaders of the other Houses are already plotting how best to turn the events to their advantage. With House Valerius weakened, both financially and in standing; its enemies see opportunities to claim some of its former wealth for themselves.

Ash must fight to reclaim his home, to protect his family and those who have sworn themselves to their House.
